FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: AUGUST 28, 2020

New York City, NY. USA:  The killing of Igbo (IPOB) youths who gathered peacefully in Emene has been roundly condemned. Obori Adaka joins to state that such callous disregard and wastage of the lives of Ndiigbo is not acceptable, will not be tolerated and is roundly condemned.  The perpetrators must be held to account.

While the full truth is awaited it seems obvious that Nigerian law enforcement in Enugu State and other parts of South East are not concerned about the security of the people rather they are more acting as occupation and repressive forces strategically deployed and positioned to control, cajole and cower our people into submission as our political leadership go along in confused daze.

Nigerian federal government is not known for truth and fairness when it comes to anything Biafra. The Buhari administration is still in the civil war mode as they duplicitously retrain and rehabilitate armed and violent Boko Haram terrorists while the same Nigerian law enforcement officers shoot, kill and maim unarmed, peaceful Igbo youths tagged IPOB in Emene, Enugu.

While we commend His Excellency Gov. Ugwuanyi for coming to a calm-down-visit to the scene and called a security meeting however we request that he set up a judicial inquiry to unravel what happened (pre/post) leading to death of Igbo youths and some law enforcement officials. It is important that utmost openness and transparency are applied to unearth what led the law enforcement to a peaceful gathering of Igbo youths in the so called democratic Nigeria.

No matter the angst with the belligerent leadership of IPOB Igbo political leadership ought to speak up to the obvious imbalance and maltreatment of Buhari administration leading to the death of Igbo youths. Not speaking forcefully could erroneously provide impetus for the army of occupation to continue to unleash on our people at slightest or no provocation. We must condemn any and all killings of our our Igbo people in Nigeria no matter the political difference.

To the leadership of IPOB, the loud silence of many Igbo political leaders should be an eye opener and opportunity to reflect and to listen to the numerous criticisms trailing your mode of operation as you agitate for self determination. No self determination has ever become successful through just abuse, insult and verbal violence. Such despising vulgarity has succeeded to expose the teaming membership to greater danger in an already more hostile terrain of trigger happy goons in uniform.  It is time to shape up a think tank to plan and re-strategize moving forward. Consider taking a shot at making an inroad to the political control of the area in which you seek self determination.

Finally, we advise the Nigerian Government that continuously killing the Igbo youths will not tame the quest for Biafra rather it will embolden the struggle. We encourage Enugu State Government institute inquiry to uncover events leading up to the massacre in Emene. We ask IPOB to retool, take stock and adopt multi-prong strategies to broaden your base. The loud silence of Igbo political leadership is deafening. We may not totally agree with IPOB modus operandi but we are committed to the Biafran cause. Biafra is a consciousness and ideology and above all, Biafra is of the mind.

Thank you.
