DISCLAIMER: Not in Our Enugu State!

Image
By Obori Adaka We have gotten inboxes and messages regarding the obviously viral video associating our lovely First Lady Mrs Ugwuanyi with UNICEF’s Tippy Tap.. Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH). The pix for some reason missed the point of the message.. the importance of hand washing and hygiene. While UNICEF is promoting hand washing even to the poorest of the poor, the rickety pix of sticks, plastic and stones convey negative message that is coloring the good work of His Excellency Gov Ugwuanyi’s administration.  The photo op must not and should not be misconstrued as a promotion of the rickety rather a genuine UNICEF program about the importance of hygiene through constant and persistent hand washing. The handlers of Her Excellency did not put out the best footing in thinking through the effect of such pix and the obvious push back. The mistake is on the handlers and such should not happen in the future.  There are better ways to showcase hand washing without resorting to th

PRESS RELEASE BY ENUGU WEST PEOPLES' PARLIAMENT. 1. We the members of Enugu West Peoples’ Parliament, a Non Governmental Pressure Group received the unwarranted  attack on our great son, the former Deputy President of the Senate and Senator representing Enugu West Senatorial District, His Excellency, Prof Sen. Ike Ekweremadu CFR, with shock and utmost dismay. 2. We wish to condemn in totality this dastardly, cowardly and sacrilegious attack by members of IPOB in far away Nuremberg, Germany and also condemn the threats by IPOB to attack South East Governors and other Igbo leaders. 3. Let us also use this medium to appreciate all concerned Nigerians for rising in their numbers to condemn this act of brazen hooliganism. Prominent among them include, the Federal Government of Nigeria, whose prompt reaction came through the Special Assistant to the President on Diaspora, Mrs Abike Dabiri, the Senate President, Deputy President of the Senate, PDP Senate and Representative Cacus, who

The Nuremberg Incident: An Evil That Will Never Prevail – Hon. Chima Obieze

The event of yesterday, the 17th of August, 2019 involving one of the very best from our clime and former deputy President of the Nigerian Senate is very reprehensible and every man of good conscience must censure this unwarranted evil act. Which person or group of persons in their right senses will behave in the manner this group chose to express their anger?  Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been in the forefront of the crusade for the inclusion of the Igbos in the scheme of things in the Nigerian state. Is this the best way to say thank you to a man that stood by your pressure group when many politicians from the south east treated you like tuberculosis patients and tried to guide your agitations to the path of civility?  Against all odds, in the face of intimidation from some powerful quarters that wants the Igbos to be relegated to the background, Sen. Ekweremadu stood firm, defended the dignity of the Igbo man and gave us a voice. I and the good people of Ezeagu, which

Minority Leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has described as reprehensible and utterly sacrilegious the attack on former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu by some persons claiming to be members of IPOB in Nuremberg, Germany. Abaribe not only condemned the despicable act, but said it smacks of utter ignorance of the prevailing situation at home with regards to what the leaders are doing in the circumstance. " It is a brazen show of ingratitude to a man who has been at the fore front in the struggle for all that is good for the Igbo race". In a statement issued in Abuja on Sunday, the Minority leader said he and the entire minority caucus in the Senate are appalled on the very nauseating attack on the revered Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu for no reason whatsoever. "We condemn it", Abaribe said. Senator Ekweremadu he said has given his all in standing for the Igbo race, particularly when "we stuck out our neck to arrang

Attack On Ekweremadu Is An Abomination, Ndi-Igbo In Germany Apologises Channels Television  Updated August 19, 2019 The Ndi-Igbo Germany, (NIG), an umbrella body of Igbo people living in Germany, are apologising to the former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, for the attack on him by members of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB) in Nuremberg, Germany, over the weekend. The group said that any embarrassment to a leading light of Ndigbo like Ekweremadu was an embarrassment to the entire Igbo race and Nigeria, vowing to ensure that the law runs its full course. The body said the event was part of its efforts to encourage foreign investment and industrialisation of Igboland, noting that it “provided a forum for Igbo people in Diaspora to network and to engage German business community with interest in investments and development in Igboland in particular and Nigeria in general”. ENUGU GUBER 2019: UGWUANYI-VOX DEI; VOX POPULI (voice of Almighty is voice of the people)

EZEJIOFO SUNNY UDEH espudeh@gmail.com March 3, 2019 T he reputable pollsters in Enugu State are not debating the outcome of the next governorship election for it is more of a done deal for the incumbent His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyichukwu Ugwuanyi – GburuGburu whose overwhelming popularity has gone off the roof.  Judging by crude guesstimate, the sheer number of over 300 support groups creating more of carnival-like atmosphere in the state, the intimidating number of billboards, banners, fliers, and posters adorning the length and breadth of Enugu State. The lack of a credible alternative candidate offers no doubt that the incumbent is in for a smooth ride to reelection on March 9, 2019.  Perhaps, most discerning observers have quietly wondered the reason behind Ugwuanyi’s indomitable and rising profile.  Others, especially those of us in the skeptical camp, are not in a rush to judgment for we ascribe to the unseen popularity to a phenomenon worthy of closer scrutiny.

@OBORIADAKA ENDORSES THE INTELLECTUAL POLITICAL THINKER OF OUR TIME: SEN. PROF. IKE EKWEREMADU PH.D., CFR, FOR ENUGU WEST

The stark difference between the executive and legislative arms of government lies in term limit.  The executive is limited to two 4 year term. The legislators are the true representatives of the people who make the laws guiding them and providing oversight functions on the activities of the executives. Common sense tells us that the more you do something the better you get at it. This is the essence and reason for not providing for term limit in the constitution for the lawmakers who apply their experience of lawmaking in shaping a better society.  Having browsed the 2019 political landscape, @OBORIADAKA endorses Senator Professor Ike Ekweremadu, Ph.D, CFR for continued representation of Enugu West Senatorial district not for bore holes, not for roads and other attending infrastructures his legislative prowess has already provided to Enugu West rather we are recognizing his growth as a  lawmaker who started as a senator, became Deputy Senate President and Speaker of ECO
