EGEDE: On the Path to Economic Prosperity

EZEJIOFO SUNNY PATRICK UDEH Ph.D.   A brief paper presented at the first Egede Economic Summit Sept 6, 2018 Today I will share with you brief information about Egede and her local economic development prospects.  I will tell tales of two small towns, one in the USA called Hershey, Pennsylvania and another in the small rural community in Anambra State renamed Umuchukwu.  I will share the roles played by two of their sons to get them where they are today. Furthermore, I will comment on the great opportunity I call ‘farming for export’, and new business sector for Egede that will thrive with the help of our young people. Finally, I will conclude by pointing out the need for political stability as a major driver of local economic development. Longest serving Principal Officer of the National Assembly.  The Deputy President of the Senate for 12 years in possession of nomination form purchased by his  constituents Nigeria chose the presidential system of government mirroring the United States of America, the doyen of democracy. The legislative arm of the presidential system is the most representative of the  people. The senate coming from the states and the House of Representatives coming from districts roughly by population distribution.  In United States the legislative arm is called the Congress and in Nigeria it is referred as the National Assembly (NASS). HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO A GREAT  LEADER-  A LION OF NDIGBO Some are born great, few achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them.   His Excellency, Deputy Senate President, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu fits into the middle of the few among modern Igbo leaders who have achieve greatness by sheer dedication, focus hard work and tenacity of a man who did not forget where he came from and why he was sent to Abuja.
