A GENTLE & KINDER ENUGU-USA under Hon. Chuma Ojukwu

Precisely June 9th, 2016, nine months into my sojourn to our original home to help shape and put theory to practice in our quest for a better society, my flight touched down with dose of experience and first hand knowledge of the litany of possibilities and more importantly the rising need for Diaspora continuous interventions in the affairs of Enugu State people.
Apart from the much needed rest and recuperations, top on my agenda was to register my presence at Obi Igbo, the venue of the much awaited celebration of one of my OfuObi brothers, Chief & Lolo Goddy Nkem Egbo, whose daughter’s Igba Nkwu - Igbo traditional marriage was happening. As in the usual New York tradition the event was a class act, with both in-laws seated opposite as the traditional rites of marriage took place in the full glare of cameras and spectators. It provided opportunity for my two young daughters, Ugonna & Nnenna to participate and understand a greater part of Igbo tradition.
Such gathering of the Diaspora both old and young in our adopted home and not in our original home, reminds me of the importance of constant and consistent strengthening of the bond of Diaspora and home. While we are here to stay, we must not forget home and abandon it to poverty and penury of the day. We must continue to shape the pathway home in this age of brain circulation as opposed to being stuck in brain drain.
Based on this background, my people, there is the urgent need for the Diaspora Igbo to retool and reposition our collective actions for the work of righting the numerous wrongs perpetrated on our people from years of inept leadership and misrule. We, in the Diaspora should seize this moment of hope in Nigeria to enthrone effective leadership in all our community organizations so as to facilitate the repatriation of our brains drained from motherland.
Perhaps, the best starting point is the Enugu State Associations U.S.A, a Diaspora organization that has made waves since 1998 and counting. In so doing we must anchor in and grab the one and only identified effective leader in the pack of candidates. This candidate is mentally alert, honest with dose of integrity and humility. This Enugu-USA leader is not just competent, he is of good character and possess keen sense of charity. This big man with large heart inspires people to pursue goals that benefit organization instead of self as he motivates followers to achieve beyond expectation.
Enugu - USA needs to stay the course of accountability and transparency of the present and no better leader than the humble and effective one who acts like a mentor not a boss, who possesses individualized consideration by acting as a coach, and who stays attentive to achievements and growth needs of followers. Enugu-USA needs a leader who exhibits enormous intellectual stimulation through his widely propagation of innovation and creativity. We need a leader who provides inspirational motivation by giving meaning to the causes and challenges through pro-social collective actions. Finally we need a leader who comfortably displays idealized influence by being ethical, and moral in all dealings.
Most importantly, this leader is very passionate about Enugu-USA’s flagship program-the Medical Mission. This leader did not just participate severally but he was active in planning and executing the 2015 Medical Mission without the usual funding from the State Government establishing experience in prudent management. This leader is not just a good manager and a team player, but he is certainly a captain of a ship who does not bail out in rough sea.
My brothers and sisters of Enugu State, I am proudly endorsing Hon. Chuma Ojukwu because he is what the doctor orders. He is that leaders that would build the solid foundation necessary to reverse the fortune of our people through the provision of credible and high quality leadership, characterized by almost complete lack of ego, and coupled with a fierce resolve to do what is best for the organization and our people. I know him. I have observed him. I have worked with him. I have confidence in him and above all, I trust him. The election of Hon. Chuma Ojukwu will guarantee seamless continuity to the path of effective and efficient organization. Cast your votes for Hon. Chuma Ojukwu, the President of Enugu-USA and rest easy on the comfort of accountable, transparent and open leadership. Take my words for it.
