APC EMBARK ON FISHING EXPEDITION AS DR. EKWEREMADU GIVES BACK TO THE NEEDY

 -  News Report

Party in power APC with their flowery promises of change are busy on fishing expedition again instead of providing good governance to the people of Nigeria who made the mistake of voting them into power.
Despite the clear lack of popularity to remove Ekweremadu and the inability to muster the two-third majority needed, information reaching us indicates that the leadership of APC and some elements in the Presidency are illusively plotting to remove the duly elected Deputy President of Senate, His Excellency Dr. Ike Ekweremadu following the trumped up charges of forgery preferred against him and Senate President Dr. Saraki.
While they were salivating in their already failed scheme, Dr. Ekweremadu was busy giving back to the needy and communities in his constituency and beyond.  Addressing the large gathering of recipients at Aguobu Owa, Ezeagu Local Government Secretariat, Enugu during the Ikeoha Foundation Adult Literacy Day and 2015/2016 scholarship and bursary award ceremony on Saturday July 23, Senator Ekeremadu had to reassure his people with these words,  “I want to assure our people that nobody will remove me. I am there not by my power or might, but by the special grace of God. It is not by our trajectory, so, they cannot do anything.”

Ekweremadu described the All Progressive Congress leadership as nursing what he described as “endless ill feelings” of the leadership over his emergence as Deputy President of Senate by the majority will of senators.  He added that nothing has happened that could make him lose sleep over the ongoing trial.

Dr. Ekweremadu refocused on the beneficiaries of his scholarship and bursary and assured them of continuous receipt of free education, however this time in staggered payment of their N400,000 in four installments of N100,000 per year to ensure continuity in their studies.  He announced a donation of sewing machines and grinding machines to over 200 women including widows from the five local government councils of the senatorial zone.

The Ikeoha Foundation, founded by the Deputy President of the Senate, Dr. Ike Ekweremadu has given out over N24 Million in bursary awards and scholarship to poor students of higher institutions selected from the five local government councils of Enugu West Senatorial zone as well as Enugu North and Igboeze South councils according its Executive Director, Mrs Cindy Ezeugwu.

Highlight of the event was the action of over 30 traditional rulers led by His Royal Highness, Igwe Hafford Agana, moved by Dr. Ekweremadu’s reassuring speech trooped out from the pavilion to the podium to reassure him that they are solidly behind in his travails in the senate as they vowed that nobody will remove him as the Deputy Senate President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.  The traditional rulers prayed and handed him Ofo staff, an Igbo traditional symbol of authority and support.

Eminently present at the august occasion were The Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, along with his Deputy, Her Excellency Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo who hailed from Ezeagu. Governor Ugwuanyi addressed the crowed describing education as the bedrock of any development.  He said that most advanced countries are where they are today because of the commitments and investments in education.  The governor promised continued partnership and support to Ikeoha Foundation as they make great investment in the education sector.

In a remarkable show of support to Governor Ugwuanyi, Dr. Ekweremadu said, “Be assured that we will continue to support you; whoever is your friend will be our friend; whoever is your enemy will have us to contend with”.  Finally, Dr. Ekweremadu allayed the fears over his continued stay in his present office on the account of his trial over the trumped up forgery charges insisting that nobody would remove him from office.

APC as a ruling party should focus on governance and fulfilling the promises of change to the people of Nigeria instead of chasing rats while our collective houses are on fire.  The people of Nigeria have seen an unimaginable hardship and sufferings since the APC government took over without clear direction or vision to make things better.  Fishing expedition such as trumped charges and selective fight on corruption are not nearly enough to turn the economy around and provide much needed jobs to Nigerians.
